The famous Honda XR600 was originally launched in 1982 and has changed little since then. The new XR650R is a much need upgrade for the dirt bike industry and put Honda back into competition with Yamaha four-stroke bikes. The XR650 made its debut in the Baja 1000 race, where the both the gold and silver medal were won by XR650 riders.
Power
The power of the XR600 was a huge reason why it was so popular. It had a 500cc engine, which filled the needs of power-hungry buyers. When the XR650 was being designed, maximum power was on the top of the priority list.
More displacement was provided to help the bike reach its power-hungry requirements. With a 649cc engine, the XR650 is certainly not in the mini dirt bikes category. This bike has the perfect balance of toughness, torque, and power. Extra power usually generates additional heat, so liquid cooling was also added along with a brand new cam cover for the engine.
Honda XR650 race bikes for sale are slightly disappointing if you buy the stock version. Without any add-ons this bike does not have much going for it. Although it looks good on the showroom floor, taking this bike out for a ride is another story. The engine almost feels strangled since it was changed to meet emission regulations. The air inlet is restrictively small, and the carburetor manifold is only half the proper size.
If ridden in stock version, the XR650 is so quite that you can hear the chains and valves moving above the engine noise. Despite the powerful engine, it only churns out 6750rpm with all the emissions limitations. However, this bike can blow your socks off if you clean out the hindering components. If the restraints are taken off, it will roar and pounce like a true beast.
